France Aunay-les-Bois 18.05.08 Championnat de France Grand Prix Karting

Thanks to the partnership between FFSA and "Fondation Julie Tonelli pour l'Enfance", a very high number of pilots raced at Essay for the third Grand Prix of this season: almost half of the pilots displayed Julie's colours on their karts, helmets, or suits. This simple gesture showed the interest and the support of the karting world to the Foundation.

Essay will be an important date for young Paul-Loup Chatin's career. He was already fast at Lyon, but there he did not obtain any good results in the final. Instead, success came on Sunday, with a podium in KF2 after an anthology fight in the leading trio of the race. Loïc Réguillon conquered a nice second place thanks to his superb end of race. Julien Deschamps is now comfortable with his new team and is working hard to reach his European objectives. His team mate Sébastien Bailly had a good performance on Sunday, but could not reach the final owing to an unfortunate series of sport and mechanical problems. Nils Bernardet - still awaiting his new chassis - nevertheless showed his remarkable qualities in the rain, setting the third best time on Saturday, something unimaginable on season debut. Kevin Mourey's morale boosted again after an incredible catching up from 32nd to 9th in final 1.

Thomas Mich is really dominating KZ2 this year. He has conquered the 1st position in the Championship ranking thanks to his impeccable races, where has committed no mistakes, both from a technical and from a driving point of view. But it is Alban Varutti's victory on Saturday that must be applauded, especially since this pilot from Nantes repeated his success with a second place on Sunday. Well done Alban! On Saturday, Anthony Abbasse could not be as competitive as he wanted in the rain, but conquered a podium on Sunday. 6th and 7th, Joffrey Demanse was not as successful as in the European Championship. Benjamin Bailly knew he had not enough experience with 125 gearbox karts to fight for leadership, but he was nevertheless satisfied to race again in France. After his withdrawal on Sunday, Cédric Erbland reached the middle of the group on Sunday.

The duel between Guillaume De Ridder and Brandon Maïsano during the Grand Prix was very exciting: each pilot won a final. Mathieu Jaminet conquered a podium on Saturday, although his chain prevented him from scoring equally good results on Sunday. Pascal Belmaazziz remained in the top 10 both days, while Nelson De Carvalho withdrew during Sunday's final.

FFSA Formula was also invited at the Grand Prix at Essay. It was Stéphane Agis who won the final. Tony Chevrolier conquered a podium. Aubin Thibault, third in the pre-final, finished 5th in the final. Romain Didier took part in the race at a moment's notice, replacing his sister Claire. He managed not to be lapped by the leaders during the final.

The foundation "Julie Tonelli pour l'Enfance" wishes to thank all the lucky (and unlucky) pilots who support it by displaying Julie's colours on their karts during the Grand Prix Karting FFSA at Essay:
