Julie was a lovely young girl, earnest and smiling, who passed away in October 2002, at 19, in a car accident, with unspeakable suffering for her family and friends.

Passionate about karting, she raced for 5 seasons and achieved very promising results. She was appreciated by everybody for her human qualities and her talent on the track.

Her family decided they would do everything they could to keep her memory alive.

Logo Fondation Julie TonelliTo keep Julie's memory alive, her family decided to establish a foundation combining her two great passions: karting and helping children in need. Her friends, other drivers, have shown their massive support to the Foundation by displaying the well-known pink butterflies, but the "Fondation Julie Tonelli pour l'Enfance" wishes to clarify the framework of such participation. It points out that the Foundation does not solicit any financial contributions and accepts no gifts. Using its own resources, which come exclusively from Julies' family, the Foundation pursues the goal of financially supporting the associations that intervene directly to help sick children or children in need. The Foundation conveys positive values such as respect, generosity and mutual support, which are shared by an ever growing number of kart and car drivers.

These people are identified by the pink butterfly displayed on their karts or cars, or on their helmets or suits. It is the only way to show one's support to Julie and to the foundation that carries her name, by lending credibility to her actions and making them known.

The "Fondation Julie Tonelli pour l'Enfance" was established in 2007, under the auspices of Fondation de France. All the funds provided by the Foundation to known associations are directly and integrally used to help the children mentioned above.

In addition to these humanitarian actions, the "Fondation Julie Tonelli pour l'Enfance" was also a privileged partner of federations such as the FFSA, organisers such as WSK Promotion in 2009, all within the framework of different karting championships. The Foundation contributed with its financial support, as well as Cups offered to winners, number plates for drivers, T-shirts for the presentation of drivers and podiums ... all things that benefit karting as a whole.

The Foundation provides media exposure, as far as possible, to the drivers who support it on the tracks, through this Web site and regular press releases about the main French and international competitions that mention all those who wear the pink butterfly.

The aim of this new Web site is to provide better knowledge about the Foundation and its actions, but also to establish a greater connection between all those drivers who stay loyal to its values, within a large community composed of several thousand passionate supporters. It also offers an extraordinary database, with its many drivers' profiles providing personal information, news and results, in order to contribute to develop a real social network around Julie.
