The German Championship (Deutsche Kart Meisterschaft - DKM) is currently the most hard-fought national open competition. Its first round has just taken place in Belgium, on the circuit of Genk. Both in dry and wet weather, Dorian Boccolacci successfully faced top-level opponents coming from several European countries, behind the wheel of his Energy/TM. Thanks to his victory in the last race, he took 4th place in the final standings of the elite class, KF1, although he just competed in 3 out of 5 DKM meetings.

For a driver like Dorian, who always aspires to be the best, all opportunities are good to show his talent on the track. This year, the DKM offered him an additional opportunity to compete in some interesting races. He gave the priority to his international programme, so he competed in 3 German rounds. He won twice at Ampfing at the beginning of the season, then took second place at Hahn, and finally conquered another victory at Genk. Though he missed two meetings, Dorian took 4th place in the Championship: definitely a good performance!

The Energy Corse driver started off on the Belgian track of Genk at a break-neck pace, taking pole in timed qualifying by driving 2.5 tenths of a second faster than the rest of the drivers in KF1. Pretty low temperatures and the dull weather did not dampen his determination and he cruised twice to two sprint victories in his qualifying heats, beating Kevin Rossel and then Dylan Pereira.

On Sunday, in the final phases, the rain soaked the track, causing grip problems. Dorian had a head start in Race 1 in the morning, but could not hold off the German Andre Matisic, future champion, totally at ease with a kart with a perfect set-up for those conditions, and had to content himself with the second step of the podium. In the afternoon, the track was dry for Race 2 and Dorian soon took first place after a cautious start. But he had to control his competitors and battle up to the last turn to hold off the Irish driver John Norris. His fighting spirit did wonders again and he prevailed on the finish line thanks to an extraordinary braking manoeuvre at the entry of the final turn.

In each single race, Dorian has just one goal: victory. In Italy or Bahrain, in KF or KZ2, he will have plenty of opportunities to show it during the last races of the 2013 season, which will remain extraordinary for the Lotus F1 Junior Team driver for all his achievements.
